Government gives seven days ultimatum to casino companies to clear arrears

KATHMANDU, Feb 2: The government has given a seven-day ultimatum to seven casino companies that have yet to clear arrears of their royalty and renewal fees. It has also warned of taking action against them if they fail to clear the arrears. The seven casino companies including Hotel Yak and Yeti Pvt Ltd, Oriental Hotels Limited, Happy Hour, Rock International and Central Media Pvt Ltd have to clear arrears amounting to over Rs 871 million remained of their royalty and renewal fees until the fiscal year of 2020/21, it has been said. Repeated calls of the Department of Tourism to the casino companies to settle the arrears have gone unheard so far. Of them, Hotel Yak and Yeti Pvt Ltd have to settle over Rs 206 million in arrear, Oriental Hotels Limited over Rs 187 million, Happy Hour over Rs 215 million, Rock International over Rs 114 million and Central Media over Rs 133 million.

Bhaktapur Hospital committed to clearing arrears

DADELDHURA, September 7: Bhaktapur Hospital has launched a campaign to clear the arrears. Medical Superintendent Dr Sumitra Gautam said the arrears accumulated from the previous administration would be reduced to nil. "We've now changed the hospital. The hospital had scored 38 in the hospital strengthening evaluation in the beginning, which is now reached 87," she asserted, adding that the Bhaktapur Hospital has been able to achieve the award 'Best Hospital of Bagmati Province'. Previously, hardly 80 to 150 patients used to visit the hospital in a day, which has now reached 750 to 800 patients with the expansion of quality service. The Hospital has assigned an officer Natibabu Khatri to reduce the arrears. As per information shared by the Ministry of Health and Population, Bhaktapur Hospital has the arrears of Rs 36 million in total till the fiscal year 2075/2076, said Khatri. There is expenditure but no valid documents on it. "We have launched campaign how such huge arrears can be cleared," he added. Even the employees transferred to other facilities from the hospital have been written about the mounting arrears.

Smart Telecom given six more months to clear arrears worth over Rs 6 billion

KATHMANDU, July 19: The government has extended the deadline for Smart Telecom, the private mobile network service provider of the country, to clear arrears. The Company has been given six months as per the Cabinet decision on July 14 to clear its arrears worth over Rs 6 billion. The deadline for the Company to clear its arrears was July 15, 2021. A letter in this regard has reached the Nepal Telecom Authority (NTA), said Santosh Paudel, NTA Spokesperson. Following the extension of the deadline, the Company has to submit its progress report to the NTA each month, he said. NTA has to carry out the analysis of the financial status of Smart Telecom on the basis of the details submitted by the Company within the coming mid-November and submit it to the Ministry. The Authority had written to the Land Survey and the Land Revenue office in last April after the Telecom failed to pay the arrears. The company has not paid the amount in various topics to the government since four years.
