NRB agrees to provide refinancing to flood-damaged hydropower projects

Concessional loan made easy for charging station development

KATHMANDU, September 24: The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has unveiled a new provision ensuring concessional loan for the establishment of electronic vehicle charging station. The central bank has come up with such idea to promote use of e-vehicles and increase electricity consumption through third amendment to refinancing procedures. The latest move of the central bank is to benefit the private sector that is working for the development electronic vehicle charging station with top priority in the recent days. Currently, 15 charging stations have been run while the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is working to set up 50 electronic vehicle charging stations across the country. Likewise, the NRB would provide refinancing service to the broadband internet service providing organisation, which will help increase internet penetration in the country's rural areas.

Banks given right to evaluate customers: NRB

Governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank Maha Prasad Adhikari has said that it is impossible to reach every entrepreneur or borrower across the country with the limited resources. There will always be limitations even if the economy grows exponentially so eligible entrepreneurs or individuals will obtain loan from the banks and financial institutions (BFIs), he said while speaking at a discussion on the Monetary Policy for the current Fiscal Year 2021/22 organised by Nepalese Association of Financial Journalists (NAFIJ) on Friday.

Only 10 local levels without bank access

KATHMANDU, Jan 23: The government objective of reaching access of commercial banks to all local levels across the country is close to materialization. According to a Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) report, only 10 local levels are without a bank.
