This is why Nepali Congress is stronger than UML: Bishwa Prakash Sharma

KATHMANDU, March 29: Bishwa Prakash Sharma, general secretary of the ruling Nepali Congress, claimed that the party is stronger than the CPN-UML, the main opposition party. Presenting the data and figures in the central committee meeting, general secretary Sharma opposed President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s claim. “How is UML stronger than NC?” Sharma questioned. “In the local level election held in 2074, UML had clinched victory in 293 local levels while the NC had stood victorious in 266 local levels,” Sharma said.  Sharma also claimed that NC will be able to win in 155 more local units only if it becomes able to increase its vote by 10 percent in the upcoming local level election. "With this. Nc will be victorious in as many as 421 local units," said Sharma. “NC stood in second position in the election in 319 local units while UML stood in second in 245 local units. In this sense, NC is stronger than UML in 74 local units,” Sharma said. “Besides, UML then and now is in a different status,” he further added. “In the election 2074 BS, leaders like Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jalnath Khanal and Bam Dev Gautam were in the party. But, these days they are not at the party,” Sharma said. “How does it make UML stronger?” “Likewise, the general public knows well about the deeds of UML when it was in power. It took an unconstitutional move one after another,” Sharma said. “If we are to form a coalition in the upcoming election, it is ok but it is not because the UML is stronger than NC,” Sharma said.
