KATHMANDU, Feb 24: Prime Minister and President of Nepali Congress (NC), Sher Bahadur Deuba urged the Chairman of the main opposition party, CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli to stand together with the party for the Millennium Corporate Challenge (MCC).
During his meeting with Oli on Thursday, PM Deuba also maintained that the government will address UML’s demands if it stands together with NC to ratify the MCC in parliament.
“MCC is now a national issue. Issues of the coalition and remaining in the government are secondary,” said Gagan Thapa, General Secretary of the NC.
PM Deuba has also maintained that remaining in power is minor for him.
Meanwhile, Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal is currently holding a meeting with Oli.
The ruling alliance is on the verge of a split as the members of the alliance share different positions regarding MCC.
The Nepali Congress wants the MCC to be ratified at any cost, while the CPN (MC) and CPN (Unified Socialist) are opposing the agreement in its existing form.
