PM Deuba, Dahal, Nepal discuss impeachment motion, local level election, MCC

KATHMANDU, Feb 15: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal held a discussion earlier Tuesday morning. The meeting was held at 8 AM this morning at Baluwatar. The meeting focused on the registration of the impeachment motion against Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana, the Millenium Corporate Challenge and the local level polls. According to the PM’s secretariat, the meeting also dwelled on appointment of ambassadors. According to a source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, preparations are being made for appointments of ambassadors in the next Cabinet meeting.

Top political leaders head for home district ahead of local polls

KATHMANDU, May 10: As the local level election is all set to kick off on May 13, top political leaders have diverted their focus toward their home districts. The silence period of the local polls are soon to begin from Tuesday midnight. After midnight all forms of election campaign will be prohibited. Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is scheduled to address a public gathering at his home district Dadeldhura. Likewise, Chairman of CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli, Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center), Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist), Madhav Kumar Nepal are scheduled to address similar gatherings at their home districts Jhapa, Province 2 and Rautahat respectively. PM Deuba will be staying at Dadeldhura and returning to Kathmandu only after casting his votes on May 13, according to Govinda Pariyar, Deuba’s press advisor. Similarly, Upendra Yadav, Chairman of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) is currently busy with election campaigns in Madhesh Province while Rajendra Lingden, Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is holding various election campaigns in Jhapa.

PM Deuba, Maoist Center’s Chair Dahal to address public gathering at Chitwan

KATHMANDU, May 3: The ruling alliance is scheduled to stage a public gathering targeting the upcoming local level polls in Chitwan on Thursday. The event is scheduled to be addressed by Prime Minister and President of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba and Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal. The event is expected to be attended by Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist), NC’s leader Ram Chandra Poudel, Gagan Thapa, general secretary of NC and other leaders of Janata Samajbadi Party and Rastriya Janamorcha Party. “PM Deuba and MC’s Chair Dahal will be attending the event,” said Rajeshwar Khanal, NC’s President for Chitwan. The members of the ruling alliance have forged an electoral alliance in all levels in the Bharatpur metropolis of the district. The CPN (MC) has fielded the candidacy of Renu Dahal for the post of the mayor of the metropolis while the NC has fielded Chitrasen Adhikari for the post of deputy mayor.
