Two engineers died as a penstock pipe of the under-construction Solukhola Dudhkoshi Hydropower Project in the Solukhumbu district of eastern Nepal exploded on Sunday.

SOLUKHUMBU, June 11: Two persons died on the spot when a trailer truck carrying a crane touched an electric wire at Solududhkunda Municipality-8 this morning.
The trailer truck (Ga 1 Ka 5173) was heading towards Pokhara from Solukhumbu happened to touch the 33-KV transmission line, said Chief at the District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kabit Katawal.
Katawal shared that the crane driver Ram Bahadur Pariyar, 24, of Syanjya district and trailer truck driver, Bhumiraj Marani, 26, of Badiganga Rura Municipality-5 in Baglung district died on the spot.
The crane being used for 86-megawatt under-construction hydropower at Solu River was being taken towards Pokhara for maintenance.
Similarly, assistant to drivers-Basanta Poudel, 18, of Malika Rural Municipality in Gulmi and 24-year-old Lila Pariyar of Syanjya sustained minor injuries in the incident and have been sent to District Hospital, Phaplu for treatment.
Traffic police Narayan Bahadur Basnet said that preparation was on to resume traffic.
SOLUKHUMBU, May 31: The Solukhumbu chapter of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) is set to institute an ‘emergency relief fund’.
A meeting of the chapter on Sunday took the decision to set up the fund, shared its chair Nutan Shrestha. According to him, the meeting also endorsed a work procedure to operate the relief fund.
The work procedure is said to cover general members of the FNJ chapter. It has also made an arrangement to provide support to its member(s) when medical treatment is required in case of accidental injury while performing their jobs as part of any media house.
Shrestha further informed that the fund can be mobilized to support journalists in case of mutilation or having complicated disease, accidental death, illness of their family members and any incident of fire and natural calamities.
He also informed that the FNJ chapter will deposit Rs 111,111 to the fund from its bank account and other options will also be explored to enlarge the fund.
