KATHMANDU: Hearing the writ petition filed by CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, the Supreme Court (SC) has issued an order to submit original documents from Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota and Election Commission.
A division bench of Justices Deepak Kumar Karki and Kumar Chudal, on Tuesday, sought original documents including Speaker Sapkota’s decision regarding the dismissal of the then 14 UML lawmakers and the poll body’s decision to register CPN (Unified Socialist).
UML Chairman Oli lodged the petition and demanded the court issue an order to implement the decision of the party to expel 14 lawmakers including Madhav Kumar Nepal, who later formed a new party named CPN (Unified Socialist). While Sapkota was accused of not dismissing its 14 expelled lawmakers, EC was charged with verifying its lawmakers for the purpose of registering a new party --- CPN (Unified Socialist).
In the petition, Oli demanded the apex court relieve the 14 lawmakers and scrap the decision of the election body to register CPN (US).
