KATHMANDU, Feb 15: The ruling party, Nepali Congress (NC), is currently holding its parliamentary party meeting.
The meeting is currently underway in the Lhoste Hall of the Federal Parliament Building at New Baneshwar.
The meeting will discuss the Millennium Corporate Challenge (MCC) and the impeachment motion registered against the Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana.
NC’s parliamentary party meeting comes at the time when the government is preparing to table the Millenium Corporate Challenge in parliament for ratification.

The meeting is being held in the Lhoste Hall at the Federal Parliament Building at New Baneshwar.
The meeting is scheduled to discuss UML’s move after registration of an impeachment motion against the Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana by the lawmakers of the ruling alliance, according to Subash Nembang, deputy leader of the parliamentary party of UML.
The ruling alliance consists of the Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) and Rastriya Janamorch Party.
The party has also made preparations to register an impeachment motion against the Speaker of House of Representatives (HoR) Agni Prasad Sapkota.
KATHMANDU, September 30: An all-party meeting held on Thursday, which was boycotted by the main opposition party CPN (UML) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has concluded that CPN (UNL) is avoiding to hold discussion and meeting.
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba summoned an all-party meeting at 10 AM to discuss the continuous obstructions of CPN (UML) in the House sessions and find a solution, but the meeting was boycotted by CPN (UML) and RPP.
“CPN (UML) did not attend the all-party meeting called by PM Deuba. They had also boycotted similar meetings earlier summoned by Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota” said Gyanendra Karki, Minister for Law and spokesperson for the government after the meeting, adding that the party is avoiding discussions and talks related to house obstructions.
On his part, PM Deuba expressed his belief that CPN (UML) will join similar meetings in future. “I will summon them again and they will attend,” PM Deuba said.
The main opposition, CPN (UML), has been obstructing the House session since the beginning of the session as a result of tussle between Speaker Sapkota and the party regarding formation of a new political party by a splinter faction of the party-led by Madhav Kumar Nepal.
KATHMANDU, September 13: Agni Prasad Sapkota, speaker of the lower house of parliament has summoned an all party meeting on Monday.
The meeting is scheduled to be held at 2 PM this afternoon following the continuous obstruction of the house session by the main opposition party CPN (UML).
The meeting will discuss the house obstruction and ways to carry out the sessions smoothly, according to the secretariat of speaker Sapkota.
Prime Minister and President of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba, Chairman of CPN (UML) KP Sharma Oli, Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist) Madhan Kumar Nepal, Chairman of Janata Samajbadi Party Upendra Lamichhane and Chairman of Unified Socialist Mahatha Thakur have been summoned for the meeting.
Likewise, Durga Poudel of the Janamorcha Party, Prem Suwal of Nepal Workers Peasants Party and Rajendra Lingden of RRP are also scheduled to attend the meeting.
Earlier on Sunday, the speaker Sapkota adjourned the house session for next Tuesday amid obstructions from the opposition party.
