KATHMANDU, August 10: Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has announced to contest in the upcoming election of House of Representatives (HoR) from Chitwan-3. Speaking to Nepali journalists in Tokyo, Japan, Dahal maintained that he will be contesting the election from Chitwan-3. Likewise, Dahal also said that he is not in the race to be the next Prime Minister of the country.

PM Deuba, Maoist Center’s Chair Dahal to address public gathering at Chitwan

KATHMANDU, May 3: The ruling alliance is scheduled to stage a public gathering targeting the upcoming local level polls in Chitwan on Thursday. The event is scheduled to be addressed by Prime Minister and President of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba and Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal. The event is expected to be attended by Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist), NC’s leader Ram Chandra Poudel, Gagan Thapa, general secretary of NC and other leaders of Janata Samajbadi Party and Rastriya Janamorcha Party. “PM Deuba and MC’s Chair Dahal will be attending the event,” said Rajeshwar Khanal, NC’s President for Chitwan. The members of the ruling alliance have forged an electoral alliance in all levels in the Bharatpur metropolis of the district. The CPN (MC) has fielded the candidacy of Renu Dahal for the post of the mayor of the metropolis while the NC has fielded Chitrasen Adhikari for the post of deputy mayor.

Ruling alliance finalizes seat-sharing in Chitwan

KATHMANDU, April 22: The members of the ruling alliance have finalized seat-sharing for the upcoming local level elections in Chitwan district. Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) and Rastriya Janamorcha Party have decided to forge an electoral alliance for the upcoming local polls. Of one rural municipality and five municipalities in the district, the NC has been given four local units while the CPN (Maoist Center) and CPN (US) have been given one local unit each. NC has been given the opportunity to field candidates for the post of mayor in Ichakamana Rural Municipality, Ratna Nagar Municipality, Khairani Municipality and Kalika Municipality. Likewise, the CPN (MC) will field its candidate for the post of mayor in Madi Municipality while CPN (US) will field its candidate for the post of mayor of Rapti Municipality. Similarly, the posts of deputy leaderships in Ichakamana Rural Municipality, Khairani and Kalika Municipality have been given to CPN (MC), while the CPN (US) has got similar posts in Ratnanagar Municipality. Meanwhile, the NC will be feilding its candidate for the post of deputy mayor in Madi Municipality.   Earlier, the ruling alliance had already agreed to field a candidate of CPN (MC) for the post of mayor in Bharatpur metropolis and candidate of NC for deputy mayor.

Members of ruling coalition decide to form an electoral alliance in Chitwan

KATHMANDU, April 4: Members of the ruling coalition have decided to form an electoral alliance in all the local units in Chitwan district including Bharatpur Metropolitan city in the upcoming local polls. The CPN (Maoist Center) has claimed the post of Mayor in Bharatpur Metropolis. However, the coalition members are yet to make a decision in this regard. A meeting of the coalition members held at Nepali Congress Party Office at Chitwan on Monday took a decision to form an electoral alliance in all local units in the upcoming local level election. The coalition members are now preparing a joint strategy for the same. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN-UML and Rastriya Janamorcha Party. Chitwan district comprises seven local units.
