UML ward-level conventions begin today

KATHMANDU, October 23: Ward-level conventions of the main opposition party CPN-UML are being held across the country on Saturday as as the part of the party's  10th National General Convention.  The ward conventions will be virtually inaugurated by the party's president KP Sharma Oli. The ward-level conventions will be followed by a municipality-level conventions starting on October 25. The Tenth General Convention of the CPN-UML will be held in Chitwan, Bagmati Province from November 26 to 28.  Electronic voting machines will be used for election purpose at the UML General Convention in Chitwan.  Meanwhile, a meeting of the UML Standing Committee on Friday appointed Surendra Pandey as the co-coordinator of the 21-member convention main management committee and Bishnu Rimal as the secretary and some other members of the committee. Vice President Rawal to resign During the meeting, UML Vice-president and coordinator of the 10-point proposal implementation facilitation task force Dr Bhim Bahadur Rawal, expressed his dissatisfaction over the non-implementation of the 10-point proposal and announced his resignation from the post. Talking to reporters after the meeting, he said that he would resign as President KP Sharma Oli was against the 10-point sentiment that he had submitted as a report with suggestions for the implementation of the proposal. Rawal said that he registered a dissenting opinion at the meeting as there was no proposal to nominate 10 percent in the central committee and only two central members were proposed.
