All you need to know about the election committee of ruling alliance

KATHMANDU, April 5: The ruling alliance has formed an election preparation and monitoring committee under the leadership of Ram Chandra Poudel, leader of the Nepali Congress (NC). A meeting of the ruling alliance held on Tuesday formed a 10-member committee. The committee includes Gagan Thapa, general secretary of NC, Gyanendra Karki, Minister for Information and Communication, Dev Gurung and Barshaman Pun from CPN (Maoist Center), Beduram Bhusal and Bijay Poudel from CPN (Unified Socialist), Ashok Rai and Renu Kumari Yadav from Janata Samajbadi Party and Himal Puri from Rastriya Janamorcha Party. A meeting of the ruling alliance held on Thursday had asked all the members of the alliance to report about the status of the party at local levels. A similar meeting held on Tuesday has asked the parties to submit the report by April 8.   After receiving the report, the Poudel-led committee will prepare a modality after studying the report. The committee formed today will study the situation of forging an electoral alliance at local level in the upcoming polls and monitor if the directives from central level are being implemented or not, said Renu Dahal, Vice-Chair of Rastriya Janamorcha Party. Likewise, a meeting of the committee is scheduled for Wednesday.
