One way vehicular traffic resumes along Prithvi Highway

KATHMANDU, Aug 9: One-way vehicular traffic along Prithivi Highway has come into operation after the broken road in Kantar of Byas Municipality-5 was repaired on Wednesday afternoon. The highway was completely blocked since 12:30 pm when the road was caved in.

Prithvi Highway disrupted after landslide

BHARATPUR, September 22: Landslide occurred at Ichhakamana in Chitwan has disrupted traffic along the Prithvi Highway. Vehicular movement has come to a grinding halt due to landslide at Ichhakamana rural municipality-4, Ghoptebhir. According to the District Police Office, the highway has been fully obstructed following landslide since 11.45 last night. Road clearance has begun since early this morning. Police siad it may take time to clear off the road due to piled up deposition of landslide debris. Vehicles have been stranded on the road after landslide. The District Traffic Police Office has urged all vehicle drivers to keep lane discipline at the moment.

Prithvi Highway caves in, only one-way traffic allowed

KATHMANDU, July 4: The Prithvi Highway, one of the Kathmandu Valley’s key supply line, has caved in at Phisling of Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-3 in Chitwan district. Only one-way traffic has been allowed in the Highway after the road subsided this morning. The road section was blacktopped few months ago. But due to incessant rain this monsoon, the edge of the road started to wear off leading to cave-in. The 174-km long Highway connects Naubise of Tribhuvan Highway in Kathmandu to Prithvichowk in Pokhara and is one of the busiest highways in the country. A traffic jam has formed in various road sections along the Highway since the cave-in.
