KATHMANDU, Aug 11: Resignation tendered by Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, Shankar Pokharel has been accepted.
Province Chief Amik Sherchan accepted the resignation of CM Pokharel.
Pokharel stepped down from his position a few minutes before the scheduled special session of the provincial assembly on Wednesday. The assembly was all set to discuss the no-confidence motion filed against him.
The office of the Province Chief also informed the Lumbini Province Secretariat about Pokharel’s resignation.
Lumbini Province Governor Amik Sherchan endorsed the resignation tendered by Chief Minister Shankar Pokharel today as per Article 169 (1) of the Constitution.
