Kathmandu. The Sri Lankan Navy stated on Monday that it arrested 25 Indian fishermen in the Kankesanthurai area of Jaffna for allegedly fishing illegally.According to the army, the fishermen entered the Sri Lankan area on Sunday night, and two mechanized boats were also confiscated from them. The army stated that the arrested fishermen would be handed over to the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources for further investigation.Citing the impact of illegal fishing practices by foreign vessels on the livelihoods of local fishermen, the army said it continues regular patrols and operations to stop illegal fishing by foreign boats. ...
