NNRFC and Tharu Commission submit their annual reports to President Paudel
Kathmandu, Oct 16: The National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission (NNRFC) has submitted its annual report for the fiscal year 2024/25 to President Ramchandra Paudel today. NNRFC Acting Chairman Juddha Bahadur Gurung presented the report to the President at a ceremony held at the Office of the President at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, Shital Niwas. KMC intensifies market monitoring
Kathmandu, Oct 16: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has accelerated the market monitoring during the festival period. KMC and the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control started market monitoring. In course of monitoring the small hotels and restaurants operated in New Baneshwor, the joint team found most of the business operated against the standard, according to the KMC. Three girls drown to death in Jhapa
Jhapa, Oct 16: Three girls drowned to death while fishing in the Sisne Khola rivulet in Gauradaha Municipality-9 in the district. According to police, the victims include two daughters of local resident Anju Magar , seven-year-old Sushma and nine-year-old Swikriti, along with 11-year-old Roshni, the daughter of Nirmala Pariyar. The District Police Office has reported that the girls drowned in the river while fishing. An investigation about the incident is underway, police said. ...
Kanchha Sherpa, a member of first successful Everest expedition, passes away
Kathmandu, Oct 16: Kanchha Sherpa, a member of the first successful Mt Everest climbing team, has passed away at the age of 92. Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa reached the summit of Mount Everest in May, 1953. Sherpa was involved as a porter in that expedition team and he had reached above eight thousand metres. He worked in the mountaineering field for two decades. Sherpa was the only surviving member of the first successful expedition team on Mt Everest. The Sherpa family stated that Kanchha Sherpa passed away today at his residence in Kapan, Kathmandu. ...
