Jhapa, Oct 16: Three girls drowned to death while fishing in the Sisne Khola rivulet in Gauradaha Municipality-9 in the district. According to police, the victims include two daughters of local resident Anju Magar , seven-year-old Sushma and nine-year-old Swikriti, along with 11-year-old Roshni, the daughter of Nirmala Pariyar. Kathmandu, Oct 16: Kanchha Sherpa, a member of the first successful Mt Everest climbing team, has passed away at the age of 92. Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa reached the summit of Mount Everest in May, 1953. Sherpa was involved as a porter in that expedition team and he had reached above eight thousand metres. He worked in the mountaineering field for two decades. Sherpa was the only surviving member of the first successful expedition team on Mt Everest.
