Italy provides health supplies to Nepal

KATHMANDU, June 25: Health supplies essential for the treatment and control of COVID-19 provided by Italy to Nepal arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport this morning. The medical assistance includes 20 ventilators, 6,000 isolation gowns and 10,000 protective medical supplies. The medical goods were given to Nepal by Italy through the European Union's Civil Protection Mechanism. EU Ambassador to Nepal Nona Deprez handed over the assistance to Dr Roshan Pokharel, Chief Expert at the Ministry of Health and Population today itself . On the occasion, she said that the Union and its member countries were assisting Nepal to cope with the current COVID-19 crisis, adding that the assistance would help in the treatment and prevention of the pandemic and in the strengthening of Nepal's public health sector. On behalf of the Ministry, Dr Pokharel thanked Italy for extending helping hands to Nepal during these hard times.  He vowed for right use and utilization of the assistance materials. As he said, the materials will be distributed to all provinces. Prior to this, Nepal had received this kind of assistance from  EU members Spain, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Malta, Denmark and Ireland, it is said.

Press Organization Nepal, Baglung provides health materials to journalists

BAGLUNG, June 25: The Press Organization Nepal, Baglung chapter has provided health materials to active journalists here today.  The organization provided health safety stuffs including facial masks, sanitizer and emergency medicines including Cetamol.   The chapter coordinator Thamman Thapa led team reached the media houses and provided the materials to them.  Thapa added that they provided these stuffs to the media persons of five radios, one weekly paper, and three online portals.    He further shared that they were planning to provide such safety materials to all working journalists in the district.

Nepal receives health supplies from Ireland, Denmark

KATHMANDU, June 18: The Government of Ireland has provided different health supplies to Nepal.  Under the European Union’s Civil Protection Mechanism, Nepal received tranches of critical healthcare equipments an supplies supported by the Government of Denmark and the Government of Ireland to help Nepal fight against COVID-19, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.   At a brief ceremony held at the Tribhuvan International Airport this morning, the Ambassador of EU to Nepal, Nona Deprez, along with the Honorary Counsel of Denmark and the representative of the Consulate of Ireland based in Kathmandu, handed over the medical equipment and supplies to Minister for Health and Population Sher Bahadur Tamang. The Danish consignment, a part of which will arrive on Saturday, includes 26 ventilators, 50 nasal flow canula and other essential medical supplies.  Similarly, the Irish support contains 72 oxygen concentrators, 44 ventilators, 12 BPAP machines, 400 oximeters, accessories and protective gears, among others. On the occasion, Minister Tamang on the behalf of the government of Nepal thanked the governments and peoples of both the countries for their support of health supplies to fight against COVID-19 pandemic. Minister Tamang also appreciated the important role being played by the EU agencies in logistics and coordination.

BSP, Nepal, provides health supplies worth Rs 19 million

KATHMANDU, June 8: BSP Nepal, a non-government organisation, has provided health supplies to health workers deputed for treatment of COVID-19 infected people at different health institutions and hospitals across the country. The organisation distributed health supplies worth around Rs 19 million including PPEs and face masks at government and private hospitals and different health institutions of 42 local levels including Kailali, Kanchanpur, Banke, Bardiya, Dang, Parsa, Rukum, Arghakhanchi, Chitwan, Makawanpur, Kathmandu and Lalitpur districts.  BSP Nepal Chair Shekhar Aryal said that the organisation distributed necessary health supplies at health institutions as part of their social responsibility and with an objective of making service of health institutions of rural areas effective.  Aryal expressed the belief that the health workers and general people would be directly benefitted from such type of support.  Similarly, Executive Director of the organisation, Prakash Lamichhane, said that the organisation with the support of My Climate Foundation, Switzerland distributed 10,000 PPE sets along with surgical masks. Urging the hospitals and health institutions to utilize the received health supplies in an appropriate way, he expressed commitment to provide such support in future.

Switzerland to aid emergency health supplies to Nepal

KATHMANDU, May 19: Switzerland has pledged to aid Nepal with emergency health supplies for the prevention and control of COVID-19.  In a telephonic conversation with Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokharel on Wednesday, Swiss Ambassador for Nepal Elizabeth Von Capeller shared that Switzerland is providing Nepal with different health support materials in its fight against coronavirus, informed DPM’s press advisor Ganesh Pandey.  According to the Ambassador, the Swiss government is aiding oxygen concentrator, PPE, masks and antigen test kit.  On the occasion, Swiss Ambassador also informed that the cargo chartered flight of Gulliv Air carrying the emergency health aid will be arriving Kathmandu on Saturday. The Swiss government will bear the flight costs involved in the transport of health assistance.
