High-level political coordination committee’s meeting underway

KATHMANDU, Jan 18: A meeting of the high-level political coordination committee formed by the ruling alliance is underway at the Baluwatar-based official residence of the prime minister.  According to Ramesh Malla, an aide to CPN (Maoist Center) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, the meeting began at 9:45 AM.  The meeting attended by top brass of the coalition partners is expected to recommend to the government to announce the local election date.  The meeting was called a day after Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Maoist Chair Prachanda held a one-on-one meeting on Monday.  The committee presided by Nepali Congress (NC) leader Ramchandra Poudel comprises NC leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Maoist Chair Prachanda and leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha, CPN (Unified Socialist) Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Chair Upendra Yadav, Rastriya Janamorcha Chair Chitra Bahadur KC and Vice-chair Durga Poudel.  CPN (US) Chair Nepal, however, is not present in the meeting as he remained isolated at home after contacting COVID-19.

Taskforce drafts agenda for functioning of coalition govt

The taskforce of the ruling coalition has finalised the common minimum programme and submitted it to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and other leaders of the coalition, including CPN-Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal Co-chair Upendra Yadav, and Rastriya Janamorcha leader Chitra Bahadur KC.

Deuba to expand Cabinet as ruling alliance forges consensus

KATHMANDU, July 28:A meeting of the ruling alliance, held on Wednesday,agreed to expand the Sher Bahadur Deuba-led Cabinet immediately.  Purna Bahadur Khadka, Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary, told Ratopati that the meeting held at the Baluwatar-based official residence of prime ministers reached a consensus to expand the Cabinet immediately. “We’ll get a full-fledged Cabinet soon. The wait is almost over,” he said.  The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Deuba, senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel, General Secretary Khadka and Krishna Prasad Sitaula on behalf of the NC.  Similarly, Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda from CPN (Maoist Center), Chair Updendra Yadav, Dr Babauram Bhattarai and Ashok Rai from Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) were also present in the meeting.  Likewise, Bijaya Poudel, a leader close to the CPN-UML’s Madhav Nepal faction and Rastriya Janamorcha Chairman Chitra Bahadur KC were among those present in the meeting.

Ruling alliance decides to make government business effective

KATHMANDU, July 25: A meeting of the ruling party alliance on Saturday decided to make the government business effective.  The meeting of five parties held at the prime minister's official residence on Saturday evening  took the decision of working in unison to run the government smoothly and effectively.   Press coordinator of CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Bishnu Sapkota, shared that agendas relating to Cabinet expansion, latest political updates, pandemic control, future plan and programs of the government among others were discussed in the meeting.  The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Dahal, CPN (UML) senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, Janata Samajbadi Party Chair UpendraYadav and Rastriya Janamorcha Party Chair Chitra Bahadur KC.  Prior to this, Chair Dahal and leader Nepal had held discussion on the latest political development at latter’s residence in Koteshwar on Saturday itself.
