Monetary Policy 2024/25: Bank rate and deposit collection rate lowered

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has unveiled the Monetary Policy for Fiscal Year 2024/25 today. Through this policy, the central bank of the country has slashed the bank rate and the deposit collection rate. "The upper limit of the bank rate in the interest rate corridor has been maintained at 6.5 per cent from 7 per cent and the policy rate has been fixed at 5 per cent from 5.5 per cent," said the NRB Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari, while unveiling the Policy.

KATHMANDU, August 13: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) is releasing the Monetary Policy today.  The NRB Board of Directors meeting today approved the policy and it is being released today.  The monetary policy is prepared targeting to address COVID-19 hit economy and prop up the industries and enterprises affected by the pandemic.  It is said the monetary policy is prepared in the periphery of the previous fiscal year's monetary policy.   Monetary policy is understood as the policy of supporting the economic growth target set by the Government by maintaining macroeconomic stability and mobilizing financial resources to expand economic activities in the country.
