11:02 AM most auspicious time for Bhai Tika

KATHMANDU: The most auspicious time to receive Bhai Tika during the Tihar festival is at 11:02 AM.  Chairman of the Nepal Calendar Determination Committee Krishna Adhikari said that 11:02 AM is the most auspicious hour for Bhai Tika.  Bhai Tika, the most special day of the five-day Tihar festival this year, has fallen on November 6.  Sisters offer seven-colored [Saptarangi] tika on their brothers’ forehead.

10:51 am auspicious hour for Bhai Tika

KATHMANDU, Nov 6: Nepal Calendar Determination Development Committee, the government body authorized to decide dates and times of festivals celebrated in the country, has shared that 10:51 am on November 15 would be the most auspicious time for Bhai Tika on the occasion of the festival of Tihar this year.

President Bhandari offers Bhai Tika

President Bidya Devi Bhandari offered tika to her younger brother Degendra Pandey at the auspicious hour of 11:02 AM on the Bhai Tika, the main day of Tihar festival.  The Bhaitika ritual and ceremony took place at the Office of President at Sheetal Niwas.  The President gave blessings and offered garlands of dubo grass and Makhamali flower, sweets, walnuts, fruits and spices and a Dhaka topi to her brother.  Also, Pandey offered tika and garlands and presents to the Head of State.   Similarly, President Bhandari on the occasion offered tika and garlands of dubo grass, Makhamali and Godabari flowers to her sister Sushila Pandey.

The main day of Tihar festival, Bhai Tika, is being celebrated with sisters offering ‘tika’ to their brothers Saturday. On the day, sisters offer tika and garlands of makhamali and sayapatri flowers to their brothers wishing them happiness, long life and prosperity. They also offer them sweets, species, walnuts and selroti, a special kind of bread cooked in oil. The auspicious hour for offering and receiving ‘tika’ on the main day of Tihar Festival, Bhai Tika, is 11:02 am. However, it can be held throughout the day, said Chairperson of the Nepal Calendar Determination Committee, Shree Krishna Adhikari.
