Leaders of ‘new camp’ in CPN-UML,  Chairman Oli near agreement; SC meeting on Tuesday

KATHMANDU, Aug 23: Leaders belonging to the ‘new camp’ in the CPN-UML, who were reportedly close to party’s then senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal but did not join his CPN (Unified Socialist), held a discussion with party Chairman KP Sharma Oli at the latter’s private residence at Balkot in Bhaktapur. The leaders and Chairman Oli neared the agreement. Monday’s meeting decided to resurrect the party mechanism prior to unification with the CPN (Maoist Center). For that, a Standing Committee meeting has been called for Tuesday.  Talking to Ratopati after the meeting, UML Secretary Gokarna Bista said that Chairman Oli and General Secretary Ishwar Pokharel agreed to implement the 10-point agreement signed by the ten-member task force formed to ‘resolve the party issues. “Today’s meeting ended on a positive note. Tomorrow’s SC meeting will decide how it will be implemented.”
