ICC World Cup T-20 Global Qualifier: Nepal to face Oman in inaugural match

KATHMANDU, Jan 28: Nepal will play against hosts Oman in the inaugural match under the ICC World Cup T-20 Global Qualifier ‘A’.  According to the match schedule released by the  International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday, Nepal have been pitted in Group A along with Oman, Bahrain, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Philippines, and United Arab Emirates.  The eight teams have again been divided into two groups -- Nepal, Oman, Canada and the Philippines are in Sub-group 1 while Ireland, UAE, Bahrain and Germany are in Sub-group 2.  The inaugural match is scheduled to be held on February 18.  The two teams that make it to the final, will book a place in the T-20 World Cup to be played in Australia in November.  Similarly, Nepal will play its second match against the Philippines on February 19 and the third match against Canada on February 21.  Nepal will play the T-20 series comprising four countries ahead of the  World Cup Qualifier. There would be competition among Nepal, UAE, Ireland and Oman from February 11-14.  Nepal will play the first match against Oman on February 11, the second match against UAE on February 12 and the third match against Ireland on February 14.

Nepali Cricket Team returns home

KATHMANDU, September 21: The Nepali National Cricket Team has returned home today from Oman after playing triangular one-day series under ICC World Cup Cricket League-2.  Office-bearers of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) as well as well-wishers welcomed the team at Tribhuvan International Airport.  Nepal had won two and lost two matches in the series. Nepal became successful to make a historic win, defeating Oman by seven wickets in the final match held on Sunday.  Before this, Nepal won the match against United States of America (USA) by five wickets in the first match of the series while Oman defeated Nepal by five wickets in the second match.   Similarly, USA defeated Nepal by six wickets in the third match.  Nepal, USA, Oman, Scotland, Namibia, United Arab Emirates and Papua New Guinea are in League-2. Nepal is in fourth position in League 2 by collecting eight points in eight matches.
