244 Nepali nationals flee from Ukraine safely: NRNA

KATHMANDU, Feb 28: As many as 244 Nepali nationals residing in Ukraine have fled the country to various neighboring countries as the country is largely hit by war with Russia. According to the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), as many as 60 Nepali nationals have reached Poland, 12 have reached Slovakia, four have reached Hungary, 12 have reached Romania and two have reached Moldova safely. Likewise, 130 Nepali nationals are waiting to enter at the border of Poland, 12 at the border of Slovakia, 10 at the border of Romania and two at the border of Moldova. These people are expected to reach their destination safely by Monday evening.

KATHMANDU, March 13: It has been learnt that 11 Nepali nationals are stranded in the forests of Lithuania and Belarus. These Nepali people are assumed to have left Russia trying to enter some other European nations. After being stranded, these people contacted Jay Prakash Shivakoti, representatives of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Slovakia. Subash Kuwar, a stranded Nepali national, contacted Shivakoti through Whatsapp and urged him for rescue. Ram Kaji Khadka, ambassador of Nepal to Germany, assumed that these Nepali nationals could not be victims of the Russia-Ukraine war but could have fled Russia trying to enter some other European countries. According to Khadka, the information has already been dispatched to the Russia-based Embassy of Nepal and efforts are underway to contact the stranded Nepali nationals.

KATHMANDU, Feb 24: The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has maintained that all Nepali nationals in Ukraine are so far safe. Expressing concern over the security of Nepali people in Ukraine, the NRNA on Thursday issued a press statement stating that Nepali nationals there are so far safe. According to the association, 38 Nepali nationals are currently living in Ukraine and they are all safe. “All the 38 Nepali nationals are in contact with the Ukrainian government,” the statement further reads. Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine earlier on Thursday morning. Russian forces have launched a major military assault on Ukraine, with reports of missile strikes and explosions near major cities. People have been trying to flee the capital Kyiv and there is a palpable sense of shock. At least seven people are known to have been killed in Russian attacks, police say. Another 19 are missing, reported the BCC.
