CPN-UML nominates Suhang Nembang as candidate for Illam-2 by-election

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has announced Suhang Nembang, son of the late Subhash Nembang, as its candidate for the upcoming Illam-2 by-election. In a secretariat meeting convened earlier today at the party’s central office, the decision to field Nembang was unanimously made.

CPN (UML) writes for removing Shahi, Oli from Lumbini Province Assembly

RUPANDEHI, August 17: The CPN (UML), Lumbini has written to the Lumbini Province Assembly Speaker asking to relieve PA members Ajay Shahi and Bimala Khatri Oli from their posts.  Citing the two acted against the party rules and statute, the party has submitted a letter to Speaker Purna Bahadur Gharti, seeking their removal from the post of PA member, according to UML Parliamentary Party Chief Whip for Lumbini, Bhumishwor Dhakal.  Shahi is the incumbent Minister Without Portfolio in the Province Government. He was elected to the 2017 Province Assembly election from Nawalparasi 1 (Kha) from the election symbol ‘Sun’, the party symbol of CPN (UML) while Oli was elected from Dang 3 (Kha ) in the 2019 November by-election on behalf of the then Nepal Communist Party (NCP), the party formed by uniting the CPN (UML) and the CPN (Maoist Centre).

The ruling CPN-UML has lost a by-election held to elect a National Assembly member to represent the Lumbini province.

Devkota elected NA member

KATHMANDU, May 20: CPN-UML leader and Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal has lost the National Assembly by-election.  Thapa suffered the loss to Dr Khim Lal Devkota, the candidate fielded by an opposition alliance,  in the by-election for the vacant post of National Assembly member from Bagmati Province, held on Thursday.  According to the final vote-count, Badal got 4014 votes while Khimlal got 5088 votes.
