KATHMANDU, Aug 17: Nepal recorded 852 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday.
With this, there are currently 5,462 active cases of COVID-19 across the country, according to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).
Likewise, 328 people who had earlier tested positive for the disease have recovered in the past 24 hours.
As many as 6,383 COVID-19 tests were conducted across the country in the past 24 hours.
KATHMANDU, July 20: Nepal on Wednesday recorded 391 new cases of COVID-19.
According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 3,981 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. Of them, 340 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and 51 antigen tests turned out to be positive for the disease.
With this, Nepal’s active COVID-19 case tally now stands at 2,276 as of Wednesday afternoon.
Likewise, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 216 new cases of COVID-19 on the same day. Of them, 22 were detected in Lalitpur, nine in Bhaktapur and 185 in Kathmandu districts.
KATHMANDU, July 20: After more than four months, Nepal is once again witnessing the rise of new novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Nepal on Tuesday recorded 357 new cases of COVID-19, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP). The number was 457 on Monday.
Even if the COVID-19 test positivity is going up daily, the ministry has so far not declared the situation as the fourth wave of the disease. However, the public health experts maintain that the fourth wave of COVID-19 has already begun in Nepal.
Director at the Epidemiology & Disease Control Division (EDCD), Dr Chuman Lal Das said that the fourth wave of COVID-19 has already begun showing indications in the country. Dr Das also maintained that the BA.5 sub-variant of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 could be causing a surge in new cases recently.
According to Dr Babu Ram Marasaini, former director of EDCD, continuous surge in daily new cases of COVID-19 which was down to seven or eight cases a few weeks ago shows that the country has already been hit by the fourth wave of COVID-19.
Nepal has recorded 2,026 new cases of COVID-19 in the past eight days.
With the rise in the number of COVID-19 patients in hospitals, medics and health workers are also testing positive for the virus.
According to Dr Prawajol Shrestha at Bir Hospital, three doctors, three sanitation workers and two nurses have tested positive for the disease.
Likewise, the disease has been diagnosed in seven health workers in Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), according to Dr Niraj Bam.
KATHMANDU, Feb 8: Nepal on Tuesday recorded 1,957 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday along with 5,103 recoveries.
11 people succumbed to COVID-19 on the same day, according to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).
The new cases were detected through 12,692 tests conducted on Tuesday.
With this, the number of COVID-19 active case tally of Nepal has now reached 36,181 as of Tuesday afternoon.
Similarly, as many as 273,349 people received the COVID-19 vaccine today.
KATHMANDU, Jan 11: Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist), Madhav Kumar Nepal has tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Chair Nepal underwent a test on Tuesday after developing symptoms similar to that of COVID-19, according to Jagannath Khatiwada, a leader of the party.
“He has isolated himself at his residence,” added Khatiwada.
Earlier, CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha who had attended a ruling alliance’s meeting along with Nepal had contracted the virus.
Prime Minister Deuba, who remained isolated after Prachanda’s COVID-19 report, however, tested negative on Tuesday.
KATHMANDU, September 12: The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine has been granted approval for emergency use against the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Nepal.
The Department of Drugs Administrations (DDA) has granted the approval to administer Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines among childrens in Nepal.
“The DDA has granted permission to distribute Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines through the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP),” said Narayan Prasad Dhakal, Director General of the department. “The government can now procure the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines and administer it among childrens.”
The government has begun preparations to administer Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines to children who are more than 12 years old.
Nepal is scheduled to receive 100,000 doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines in a few days through the COVAX facility.
So far, along with the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, Covishield, Vero Cell, J & J and Astrazeneca vaccines have been given approval for emergency use against COVID-19. (With inputs from Annapurna Post)
KATHMANDU, Aug 20: Nepal on Friday confirmed at least 3,042 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease. According to the health ministry, those cases were detected through 17,654 tests carried out across the country in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 2,244 COVID-19 patients got over the disease on Friday taking Nepal's COVID-19 recovery rate to 93.1 percent.
Twenty six patients, however, lost their battle against the disease. With this, COVID-19 fatality tally has soared to 10,455.
