Tanahu DAO directs for school closure

KATHMANDU, Aug 2: The District Administration Office, Tanahu has directed all schools to shutdown teaching learning activities. Earlier, the private and community schools were operated physically without permission and in the face of coronavirus risk.  A meeting held under the coordination of DAO directed for the shutdown of schools in view of the coronavirus threat, according to assistant chief district officer Chitrangad Baral. The meeting was attended by the PABSON, NPABSON and chief of education section at Byas Municipality. Assistant CDO Baral further said schools were not allowed to run the classes physically until the decision by COVID-19 crisis management committee. "Administration has not allowed the school opening, so they remain closed," he added. Similarly, education section chief at Byas Municipality, Nagendra Prasad Regmi, wondered why some schools were run though they were not allowed. The lockdown is in place till Wednesday. But, some schools were found running physical classes. However, it is alarming that with the relaxed lockdown the coronavirus cases are rising in the district, thereby posing serious threat to human health.

DAO Chitwan urges not to raise fund arbitrarily for COVID-19 cause

CHITWAN, May 23: The District Administration Office (DAO), Chitwan has urged one and all not to launch fundraising campaign on their own for COVID-19 cause.  Issuing a notice here today, the DAO Chitwan expressed its concern over the fundraising campaign being run by individuals and organizations through various medium for the purpose of providing support to COVID-19 patients. “We have received complaints that some organizations have set up COVID-19 fund arbitrarily and have been collecting funds. We would like to urge them to collect the fund through one-door process. If anyone likes to donate for COVID-19 case, please do it under the one-door policy,” appeals the notice.  Those willing to contribute to COVID-19 cause could donate by depositing money in the bank account opened at the Rastriya Banijya Bank’s Singha Durbar Branch. The account number to do the same is 196000001101, the DAO said in notice. The DAO, Chitwan has also informed that the infection rate and hospitalization rate in the Chitwan district was increasing lately.

Bhaktapur DAO seeks clarification from International Hospital over two deaths

BHAKTAPPUR, May 10: The District Administration Office (DAO), Bhaktapur has proceeded towards an investigation into the alleged negligence of Kaushaltar-based Bhaktapur International Hospital at Madhyapur Thimi-3 in the deaths of two Covid-19 patients.  Assistant Chief District Officer Mukesh Kumar Keshari said the office wrote to the hospital on Sunday, seeking clarification on the matter. “We have proceeded towards the investigation and we are right now  not in the position of talking in detail about the issue.  This is the part of investigation and we will go for further action once the hospital responds to the letter.’’ The 15-bed hospital is alleged of admitting patients more than its capacity.  According to a source, 28 Covid-19 patients were admitted to the hospital  on Thursday when it was running out of medical oxygen since the afternoon. In night, visitors of ICU patients and those on the ventilator support were asked to shift the patients to somewhere else. A 45-year-old male of Kamalbinayak of Bhaktapur who was on the ventilator support  had allegedly died due to the lack of oxygen supply a 60-year-old male from Pokhara breathed his last while being taken to Jawalakhel-based Alka Hospital.    Relatives of the deceased have accused that the patient was taken out of ICU forcefully and they were asked to shift him somewhere without referral documents.
