Senior citizens to receive booster dose after two weeks

KATHMANDU, Aug 2: Senior citizens above the age of 60, who had earlier received the first dose of Covishield vaccine against the coronavirus disease, will receive the second jab after two weeks.  Umesh Shrestha, Minister of State for Health and Population, on Monday afternoon, shared that the elderly citizens will be inoculated with the vaccine after 17 days. According to the Health Ministry, as many as 1.4 senior citizens are yet to be administered the booster jab.  Unveiling his 100-day work plan, Minister of State Shrestha, said that the AstraZeneca vaccine will arrive in Nepal once the ongoing Tokyo Olympic Games are over.   Also speaking during the press meet at the ministry, Krishna Prasad Poudel, spokesperson for the ministry, said that administration of second dose of Covishield vaccine in nine months of the first jab ensures efficacy.

KATHMANDU, December 9: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) is to administer a booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine to senior citizens, who are already vaccinated with full-dose of the vaccine.  The Ministry, on the recommendation of the National Vaccine Advisory Committee, is going to provide a booster dose to senior citizens above 60 years.   Chief of the Family Welfare Division of Department of Health Services, Dr Bibek Kumar Lal, shared that senior citizens above 60 years and already vaccinated with full-dose of vero cell, have started getting booster dose.  At a regular press briefing organised at the Ministry on Wednesday, he said that the WHO has recommended administering a booster dose to those citizens, who have already received full-dose of vero cell vaccine and are above 60 years.  The Advisory Committee has recommended a booster dose to all the people above 60 years and vaccinated with full-dose of vero cell  after three months of receiving the vaccine in Nepal.
